The business of solving problems is at the core of government – and the most complex and interesting issues may just be right in your own neighborhood. As a local government agency within Arlington County, Arlington Economic Development is tasked with being the County’s liaison to the business community—helping both new and established businesses to start, grow and succeed. Because growing the local economy is not an easy task – we will look at how AED is addressing one of the major issues facing Arlington County right now: record high vacancy rates. We will also discuss the nontraditional methods that AED is using to attract and retain businesses in Arlington—again showing that local government can employ unique tools and economic development activities to spur economic growth.
